Cooperation

Cooperation by definition is the act of working or acting together to achieve a common goal (taken from the Encarta dictionary online, 2009). I believe cooperation simply means to carry a positive attitude when you’re working with someone.
Cooperation is important because without cooperation I do not believe any work would get done. If I did not cooperate with my teachers I would not learn or comprehend every bit of information that was being taught. I also believe that when you cooperate with someone you not only have to carry a positive attitude, but you also have to be open to change, and possibly be prepared for compromising. When we enter the work force we will be working with people from different backgrounds, and coming from different cultural backgrounds also. I believe here is where the most conflict comes about, however if you are skilled in the art of cooperation you will not have a problem with understanding your opponents background and this will help you come to an agreement with them when your in an argument.
Understanding how to step back and listen to the other person is important because sometimes in the heat of an argument you may not hear what your opponent is saying so you may say something you might regret. If you cooperate and listen to their side of the story you will understand how to debate them more effectively.  People who understand the true meaning of cooperation, and understand how to cooperate with people, are more successful in life.
